Description

On this tour you can tailor an itinerary with the help of your local guide/driver. You can choose the different areas you want to visit. You might choose to be taken back in time through the narrow-cobbled streets of Lisbon where you discover its historic and cultural heritage and fall in love with the picturesque and colorful neighborhoods. Another option is to explore Lisbon by following the path of the 28 Tram from monument to monument, journey through time, winding its way through narrow streets and passing some of the city’s most famous historical neighborhoods, including Alfama, Graça, Chiado, and all the way over to Estrela. Along the way, you’ll stop at 2 of the highest viewing points in the city, Nossa Senhora do Monte and São Pedro de Alcântara, to take in breathtaking views of the old Lisbon. Lisbon's west hills of Chiado, Bairro Alto and Príncipe Rea are also an option. You will encounter history, culture, landmarks, amazing viewpoints and cultural areas, learning about your surroundings from your guide. This trendy part of the city was once the center of intellectual life, where famous writers would meet for their morning coffee and discuss important matters. It has now become a cool, vibrant, part of town, and the perfect place to do some shopping or just stroll around during your stay in Lisbon. These three neighborhoods offer you a little bit of everything, from fashion, glamor, fascinating historical sites such as Carmo Convent/Largo do Carmo, where the revolution that ended the fascist dictatorship in Portugal started. You will also later discover the beautiful São Roque church. These areas also boast emblematic theaters, charming old bookshops, live music and great tapas restaurants. The nightlife is pretty good too, with numerous bars and clubs to choose from. Another option is to head further west to the area of Belem where you may get off the tuk-tuk and visit some truly amazing monuments. See the Jerónimos Monastery, which is a world heritage site of gothic Manueline style architecture. Learn about the Belém Tower, just across the road, which was built between 1514 and 1520. Then head slightly down the river to the Monument to the Discoveries, which was dedicated to the Portuguese discoverers. These three monuments are some of the most visited in the city. Do not forget to sample the famous Pastéis de Nata while you are in Belem.
