Reviews
Traditional Portuguese restaurant with regional cousine. Really good.
From the outside, it seems like a regular Portuguese tasca, but inside, the ambiance feels different, in a good way. Service was excellent, very lovely and friendly. The food options were good, and the portions were big. Some of them were enough for two people, easily. The restaurant is located in a neighborhood that takes you back to Lisbon's older times. The small church, the brick streets, and the “coreto” create the whole experience. It was recommended to me by a Portuguese friend, and I recommend it, especially if you want a great Portuguese meal experience.
The remodeled Solar da Gula in Olivais is a visually stunning, Instagram-worthy spot. The food is truly divine; the Octupus in olive oil and garlic (Polvo à Lagareiro) was perfect, the Shrimp in Garlic sauce (Camarões à Guilho) were amazing, and the Monkfish Rice (Arroz de Tamboril) was a standout. However, the service doesn't match the quality of the food or the ambiance. It was inattentive, they forgot to bring us the dessert menu, and lacked the polish expected from such a nice space. Go for the exceptional cuisine, but hope for improved service.
