Excellent food. The menu does not have vegan options, but the chef is more than willing to prepare some vegan dishes based on your appetite. Highly recommended 👌
We visited last night for dinner. We arrived around 7pm and were seated straight away which was lucky as there was a line for tables from 7.30pm onwards. The server was fantastic, she was really helpful with the Portuguese only menu, and was efficient and lovely to talk to. The food and wine were incredible, I highly recommend visiting!
Stunning food at Taberna Os Papagaios in Lisbon. If your Portuguese isn't good, this place might seem a terrifying prospect, looking like a local haunt with the menu on a wall in Portuguese and no detailed description of what the mysterious dishes might be, but it is well worth a trip. It's traditional Portuguese cooking, full of flavour and using all sorts of parts of animals. Treat it like a tapas bar where people share a few dishes between them. Had fantastic seared tuna, lamb and a mushroom sauce and a dish of game and rice. All the dishes were wonderful, the place has great character (signs telling you they will not turn down the music) and the staff are very friendly and multilingual.
The restaurant offers some adventurous Portuguese dishes, especially for meat eaters, but there are also plenty of fish options, which was great for us. The atmosphere was really nice, and we enjoyed sitting at a large shared table with other guests. The man who served us was very friendly and helpful, though the woman who seated us wasn’t very welcoming. Our pica-pau tuna was unfortunately cold, but overall we enjoyed the meal and would like to come back to try more dishes.
Amazing experience! They don’t take reservations, we went there for lunch, arrived at 12:30 and it was still empty. However at 13 all tables were full. The food is delicious, tasteful and generous portions. Some of the best rice I’ve ever had! The beer on tap is from Madeira Coral, very good! Overall a great experience, authentic Portuguese restaurant with a strong character.
