Nice terrace esplanada. All the restaurants in this area have the same. Chongqing Xiaomian is a spicy wheat noodle dish from Chongqing in central China, bordering Sichuan province. It is built on a base of chili oil, Sichuan peppercorn, soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, and aromatics. The noodles are usually thin and chewy, served either dry or in a light broth, with the flavor centered on the málà combination of chili heat and the tingling numbness of Sichuan pepper. Originally a cheap everyday meal for workers, it became one of Chongqing’s signature street foods, highly customizable and fast to prepare.
The Chinese Food Juggernaut. The Old House is, almost certainly, the biggest, most prestigious chinese food restaurant in Portugal. A massive 2 floor building with a single, spacious dining room on the ground floor, complemented with terrace, and an upper floor with a more compartmented room, several individual tables and a more refined outlook. The staff was nice and fast responding. For starters, i had their signature beef noodles which were delicious. It should be noted that the noodles are not meant to be a main dish but rather a starter or a side dish. For mains, i had their best seller Peking Duck. I had the whole duck! It's perfectly sized for two (normal adults) the meat is tasty but a bit dry and stringy, so i advise you to make (heavy!) use of the sauces they give you. They give you sweet and sour sauce, leek and cucumber but you can ask for rice and other side dishes. I managed to go through the whole duck and ended full enough to not want a desert (which is a rarity!). In conclusion, and like i said in the beggining of this review, the Old House is probably the most hyped Chinese restaurant in Portugal. It's a very commercial restaurant (obviously) but i do think they deserve their reputation. The place is beautiful inside and out, the food feels authentic (for a layman at least) and the staff was fast and cooperative. I'm gonna give them 5 stars.
The Old House is a superb Chinese restaurant in a lovely Lisbon location. The staff are very helpful and friendly. Whilst not a typical ‘cheaper’ Chinese restaurant, the quality of what they offer is superb. Everything is high quality and their Roast Duck is the best that I have ever had - beautifully crispy on the outside and most succulent on the inside. I was recommended the roast duck by a taxi driver and he was right - it is delicious!
