Description

Starting in Lisbon, the tour crosses the 25 de Abril Bridge, a suspension bridge modeled after San Francisco’s Golden Gate, named after the 1974 revolution that ended dictatorship in Portugal.

The first stop is the Azulejos de Azeitao workshop, where traditional European tile-making techniques produce hand-painted and relief tiles inspired by 16th-century Hispano-Moorish patterns. This workshop is renowned in southern Lisbon for preserving historic designs.

Next, the tour explores Arrábida UNESCO Park, a protected area rich in Mediterranean plants such as olives, pistachios, strawberries, lavender, thyme, and chamomile. Several coastal viewpoints offer uninterrupted views of pristine beaches and clear Atlantic waters.

The journey continues with a visit to Quinta de Catralvos winery, a family-owned vineyard offering panoramic views. Here, guests taste 5 local wines paired with cheese and pastries, while learning about the wine production process from vine to glass.

Afterward, the tour arrives at Sesimbra, an Atlantic fishing village known for its seafood and scenic bay. Visitors can explore narrow streets, relax on California and Ouro beaches, visit the Santiago Fortress, or choose to have lunch in town.

The next winery visit is to Jose Maria da Fonseca, a historic estate operating since 1834 through six family generations. The guided tour includes the owner’s house and ancient cellars, concluding with a tasting of 2 exceptional wines, some over 100 years old.

The final stop is the Christ the King statue (Cristo Rei), offering panoramic views of Lisbon and the Tagus River. Erected in 1959, the monument expresses gratitude for Portugal’s avoidance of World War II devastation.

The tour concludes with a return to Lisbon.
