Description

Begin at Peniche, a traditional fishing village, where a boat will take your group to Berlenga Grande Island. Upon arrival, board a smaller boat to visit St. John the Baptist Fort. This 17th-century fort was key to Portugal's coastal defense, with stories of soldiers who protected it during the Spanish fleet’s attack.

After the fort tour, walk back to the port via authorized trails through the nature reserve, enjoying expansive views of the island. At the port, you will have free time for lunch (not included) or to swim or snorkel nearby. The island has one restaurant offering quality fresh fish. You may also bring your own food if preferred.

The island’s beach is steps from the port, ideal for swimming and snorkeling in calm waters with abundant marine life. In the afternoon, kayaking around the island is available. You can explore the island’s caves by kayak or, for a less active option, take a glass-bottom boat tour through the caves and cliffs.

The tour concludes with a return to the mainland and transfer back to Lisbon.
