Description
Spend a full day touring Sintra and admiring some of the most spectacular of Portugal’s castles.
Stop at the Moorish Castle with its original sections dating from the 8th and 9th centuries, and enjoy fantastic views of the region.
Visit the Pena Palace and admire the mix of architectural styles of its exterior and interior. The Pena Palace is one of the best examples of Romanticism in the 19th century.
Next you’ll visit the historic town of Sintra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Sintra National Palace is located in the center of town, and for that reason it is known as the Town Palace. The 2 massive chimneys that protrude from the kitchens have become emblematic of Sintra.
Inside, you’ll tour the ostentatiously decorated rooms of the best preserved medieval royal palace in Portugal and the favorite of Portuguese nobility.
Quinta da Regaleira, located in the historic center, was built in the early 20th century in the middle of a dense forest, surrounded by gardens, lakes, grottoes, and enigmatic constructions. It is the result of the Romantic, Gothic, Renaissance, and Manueline ideals and of the magical and mythical visions of its owner.
