Step back into the 18th century at the Palace of Queluz, one of the last great Rococo masterpieces in Europe. Often overlooked by the crowds heading to Sintra, this 'Royal Bookend' offers a tranquil look at the grandeur of Portuguese nobility. Marvel at the intricate blue-and-white facades and the monumental architecture that served as a stage for royal intrigue. Surrounded by its famous statue-lined gardens and ornate fountains, the estate provides a stunning backdrop to discover the elegance and decadence of a bygone era.
The Giant of the North: Mafra National Palace
Next, we journey to the colossal National Palace of Mafra, a monument so grand it defines the horizon. We go beyond the standard tour to focus on its most extraordinary feature: the Rococo library. Home to 36,000 ancient volumes and a colony of tiny bats that serve as their natural protectors, it is a 'living' piece of history that large bus tours rarely give the time it deserves.

Before reaching the coast, we stop at the Aldeia Típica de José Franco. In this hand-sculpted clay village, you’ll witness the vanishing art of local pottery and a glimpse into rural life.
