MAC/CCB Museum of Contemporary Art and Architecture in Lisbon
The MAC/CCB in Lisbon offers access to modern and contemporary art exhibitions, suitable for art enthusiasts interested in international and Portuguese collections.
Description
The MAC/CCB combines Portugal's State Contemporary Art Collection, the Teixeira de Freitas Collection, and the Berardo Collection in one venue. It showcases works by prominent 20th and 21st-century artists such as Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dalí, Marcel Duchamp, Piet Mondrian, Joan Miró, Max Ernst, Vieira da Silva, Andy Warhol, Donald Judd, Bruce Nauman, Lourdes Castro, Helena Almeida, and Cindy Sherman. The artworks are displayed in chronological order, providing visitors with a clear understanding of art movements and historical context.
The museum also houses the Architecture Centre, which reopened in April 2025 after renovation by the Swiss-Portuguese studio BUREAU. The redesigned space supports exhibitions, workspaces, public events, and communal gatherings, reinforcing the dialogue between visual arts, architecture, and performing arts.
The MAC/CCB is open Tuesday to Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
