Sanctuary of Fátima
Upon arrival, explore the renowned Fátima Sanctuary, one of the world’s most significant Catholic pilgrimage sites. Visit both the old and the new Basilicas, which host candlelight processions on May 13 and October 13, drawing over 250,000 visitors. You’ll have time to attend any services you wish or simply walk around the serene sanctuary grounds.
Fátima Museum (Optional)
If you're interested in the history of the apparitions and the development of the sanctuary since 1917, you can visit the Fátima Museum, which offers an in-depth look at the events that made Fátima a spiritual center.
Souvenirs and Lunch
Take some time to shop for religious items and souvenirs in the many local shops around the sanctuary. Then, enjoy a meal at one of the nearby restaurants, where you can savor traditional Portuguese cuisine.
Aljustrel and Valinhos
After lunch, head to Aljustrel, the small village where the shepherd children who witnessed the apparitions lived. Visit the museum-house of the children for a glimpse into their daily lives. Then, proceed to Valinhos, the site of one of the apparitions in 1917. These locations provide a deeper understanding of the story behind Fátima’s spiritual significance.
