Probably one of the most famous places, which has maintained excellent pizza and other dishes for many years. The service and location are excellent.
Just Nope. What's Casanova's biggest attraction??? It's terrace close to the Tagus River. What's Casanova's biggest problem??? It's unsolved problem with mosquitos and flies in the terrace. Arriving on Casanova and picking a spot closer to the river's edge, even on a cloudy winter day like today, creates good expectations about what's to come. However, i soon discovered that's where the fun stops. The terrace is surrounded with plants some of which are unkempt and there are swarms of mosquitos and flies all around the place that come into your plate and clothing as soon and as fast as you blink (see the video i posted). The Diavola pizza with added mushrooms was brought to me in less than 10 minutes but it was mediocre at best. The draft beer wasn't well pressurized and felt stale. The tiramisu was mushy, foamy and tasting primarily of brandi and, frankly, tasted like those homemade tavern "tiramisus". To make mathers worse, after i finished my first beer, i called a waiter (tall with glasses) for a refill and i was sucessfully and dismissively told to wait. A couple of minutes later the same waiter showed up and rudely told me that she couldn't come up ealier and resentfully brought me the beer. Yeah, not a good experience. Food is average, the terrace is overrun with insects and some staff members just don't make it any better. 2 stars.
Finally a pizza from the north of Italy, just like they make it in our home town in Romagna. Thin, light, full of flavour and good ingredients and the funghi pizza covered in mushrooms as it should be. Just wonderful. So happy to have found this little piece of Italy now that we live in Lisbon. Grazie!
