I would rather stick to the known tourist traps than come back here. This place was recommended by a local, maybe it’s more suited to locals rather than tourists. See photo of the “fillet steak” that I paid €23 for. I actually googled the Portuguese definition of fillet steak when i got this, just to make sure my expectations were correct - which it seems they were. What I got was a thin piece of chewy, my guess, porterhouse cut of steak. Waiter also bought out and charged us for bread and prosciutto that we didn’t ask for but we politely paid for it anyway. The other call out for me is that the outside area where we sat felt quite dirty, the plates and tables we dusty and there were discarded prawn/shrimp heads on the chairs. The seafood eaten by other members of our group was said to be fresh and tasty, maybe stick to the seafood if you insist on eating at this place but I’d recommend going elsewhere.
Came here on a recommendation from a local tour guide and wow… incredible food!!! We’ve been searching for a good local spot on our holiday from Australia and we’ve definitely found it! We had the clams, beef frita and a couple glasses of white wine and couldn’t be happier. Service was amazing, food was delicious and the atmosphere was great! Definitely come here for some local, authentic food. Mostly (what it seems) that it’s a local spot for dinner. Amazing! Would come back here for sure!
The seafood here is so fresh and tasty. Service was excellent and atmosphere was very warm and cozy. Shout out to our server Brito, he was awesome!
I wanted to have grouper, but there was another fish: Cherue (in Portuguese) and it was so good. Very good cooking.
We visited O’Palacio about six years ago and came back this year just for their crab — it was absolutely magical back then and still is! The place feels authentic and not overly touristy, even though it’s not located right in the city center. Totally worth the trip. The seafood is incredibly fresh and perfectly cooked. Yes, it’s on the pricey side, but the flavors are unforgettable — finger-licking good!
