Enjoy a full-day private excursion from Lisbon to Fátima, one of the most important places of pilgrimage in the Catholic world. In addition to the Sanctuary you’ll see the house of Lucia, Jacinta, and Francisco, the 3 young shepherds who claimed to have seen the apparition of the Virgin Mary. In 1917, when news of the apparition of the Virgin Mary spread, this once-sleepy rural village turned into an important Catholic pilgrimage site. Visit Our Lady of Fátima Sanctuary (Nossa Senhora de Fátima Santuario), a place of worship visited each year by more than 4 million pilgrims, who come to pay their respects and worship at the shrine. You’ll see the Chapel of the Apparitions, built on the site where the Virgin Mary appeared to the 3 young shepherds, and also see the tombstones of 2 of the 3 shepherds who reported the apparition.  In Batalha you’ll visit the monastery and admire its gothic architecture. In the old fishing village of Nazaré, you’ll take in the belvedere over the beach area and the headlands. Finish off with a stop in medieval Óbidos before heading back to Lisbon.
