Description

Itinerary from Lisbon Hey, history, culture, wine, and nature lovers! Join me, Carolina, a local, interpretive guide to one of the most beautiful bays in the world. This is a fun, informative private tour, made for you. We'll take breaks, stop for pictures, and have free time to explore. We'll travel to Setúbal to the São Domingos viewpoint, where you will have your first immersive view. Livramento Market This market was awarded one of the world's best fish markets in 2015. Inside, the incredible tiles by Pedro Pinto, dating from 1929, depict the story of Setúbal’s agricultural and fishing activities. Find a variety of fish, fruits, vegetables, and aromatic herbs. Enjoy some samples from local producers. The Convent of Jesus In the heart of the city is the illustrious Convent of Jesus dates back to the 15th century (1490). It was the first convent of Manueline architecture and one of the few that survived the 1755 earthquake. This work by the Manueline architect Boitaca creates an atmosphere of peace and silence, also alluding to the complexity of the Manueline style and the golden age of Portuguese discoveries. The complex and mysterious artistic style, where every small detail has a deeper meaning. Arrábida Gap - During our journey, we will be able to see the Arrábida Gap, one of the notable features of the Arrábida Mountains, which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2021. Delicious lunch break- Stop on the Setúbal Pier promenade, where you can choose one of the many restaurants where you will find fresh fish from the region, not forgetting the irresistible and crispy fried cuttlefish (Choco Frito)— a traditional dish of the city. In any of the restaurants, enjoy the view of the blue river, the Sado. After lunch, we will continue our journey to the picturesque village of Azeitão. Azeitão is a region has always been known for its wines and cheeses. It was also a resting place for the nobility due to its particular climate and its proximity to Lisbon. In Azeitão, we will visit: Azulejos de Azeitão A visit to a craft workshop in a very intimate and family atmosphere, where we will learn about tiles in a traditional way, from their origin, how they are made, the meaning of their colors, ornamentation, and the final product. Wine tasting To conclude our cultural journey, indulge in a tasting of the Setúbal Peninsula's celebrated wines. You'll sample five exceptional wines (or ask to customize your choice). Each wine showcase the region's unique terroir and reveals the harmony between tradition and the natural beauty of this renowned wine-producing area, offering a perfect finale to your day of discovery. Serra da Arrábida You will be able to enjoy the wonderful landscape and the content of the mountains. Without a doubt, you will be enchanted by one of the most incredible and profoundly beautiful places in Portugal. Travel back to Lisbon following our tour. I can't wait to show you the hidden secrets of my country! -- Carolina
