Reviews
Great place. Pretty high quality portuguese fodd at a decent price. The entrance is by W&B hotel, the terrasse is hidden, so it's quite and enoyable. We were here for lunch. The octopus (the salad and the main) and the tomato toast were truly good. The waiter Francisca gave us the best service we've so far encountered in Lisbon. Highly recommended.
No terrace. Nice decor. Pataniscas are fritters made with shredded salted cod (bacalhau) mixed with egg, flour, onion, garlic, and parsley, then deep-fried until crisp on the outside but soft and fluffy inside. They are usually served alongside arroz de feijão, a brothy rice with beans.
Overall, I could feel that the staff were genuinely trying their best to provide good service, and I appreciate their effort. However, because we speak English, communication was not very smooth, as the staff’s English ability was limited. To avoid misunderstandings, I tried to order by showing photos from reviews. I ordered the cod shown in photo 1, which was served with carrots and zucchini. However, the dish that arrived was cod served with potatoes, spinach, and onions. I understand that side dishes may change depending on availability, and I am fine with that. What I would have appreciated is a brief explanation before the order was placed, so I could clearly understand what would be served. In our case, it was simply a matter of personal preference, but in other situations this could be important for guests with food allergies.
Very disappointing!!! Drinks came out quickly, but we waited almost 40 minutes for the starter. No one explained anything, and when we finally asked, we were told that our Croquetes de Rabo de Boi hadn’t even been ordered. After that, the server mostly avoided our table, which was pretty uncomfortable. Not sure if it was a language issue or something else, but it didn’t feel great. What made it worse was that we confirmed Croquetes de Rabo de Boi again, and still ended up being served Croquetes Tradicional. So in the end, I never got the dish I actually wanted. The main course was also just okay at best. The vegetables were very oily, and the octopus was so soft it made me question how fresh it was. For a place listed as a five-star hotel restaurant on Google, and charging €26 for a main, this was honestly hard to justify. Overall, the service felt careless, the ordering was messy, and the food didn’t live up to the price or the rating. Definitely not what I expected.
