Fatima, Batalha, Nazare and Obidos are iconic locations in Portugal, each with its rich history and cultural significance. This region, marked by its religious heritage and stunning landscapes, Fatima has one of the most important Marian shrines in the world. In 1917, three shepherd children (Jacinta, Francisco and Lucia) reported apparitions of the Virgin Mary, who conveyed messages of faith and hope. Near by the village of Batalha is renowned for its monumental Gothic monastery, the Monastery of Batalha (Mosteiro da Batalha), officially known as the Monastery of Saint Mary of the Victory (Mosteiro de Santa Maria da Vitória). Close to Batalha, there is the beautiful city of Nazare, famous for its giant waves. Nazare is notable not only for its natural beauty, but also for its fishing tradition. The beach and promontory are renowned among surfers who challenge these seasonal and rare waves also known as 'Canhao da Nazare' on the famous Praia do Norte. A few kilometers away we can find the walled village of Obidos with more than 2000 years of history, allowing a total evolution from its picturesque streets to its imposing walls.
